Life as Katherine Heigl knew it changed when she moved to Utah, but she wouldn’t change a thing.

The Grey’s Anatomy alum, who moved several years ago in hopes for a more peaceful life for her family, shared that she’s fully content with her choice to leave Hollywood.

“I have found and carved out this peace for myself and for my family, and it brings me so much joy and contentment and clarity and grounding,” she told E! News’ Francesca Amiker in an exclusive interview. “And I just think, ‘Why mess with that?'”

Heigl, 46, admitted that she has questioned her choice—or others judging her for it—but she’s decided to focus on what’s best for her and her family.

“Sometimes I ask myself if I should be in the game, if I should be hustling, if I should be more ambitious. And I just think I really don’t want to,” she explained. “If you don’t want that, then don’t do it, just because you think that’s what you’re supposed to do, or that’s what society expects from you.”

Leaving Los Angeles has also strengthened her marriage with husband Josh Kelley.

“For me, he’s just become, especially in this world we’ve created for ourselves out in Utah, he’s become such my person, and he has always been,” she shared. “Even in the beginning, like a safe harbor, somebody I could just really depend on and count on.”
