This week, Dr. Max (Joshua Jackson), Avery (Phillipa Soo), Tristan (Sean Teale), and Captain Robert (Don Johnson) are fighting trying to keep the boat from rocking as a mishap caused a double booking involving two very different groups. On one side, the “sex positives” — led by Whitney Cummings — are celebrating their freedom and their sexuality. On the other side are “tradwives,” a term popularized on TikTok to describe women who subscribe to traditional gender and marital roles. In short: this voyage isn’t going to go well.
Will The Odyssey’s crew be able to keep the two opposing communities away from each other’s throats (unlikely) or will things get messy between the groups as the teaser trailer shows — food fight, anyone?
Whatever happens, it’s going to be another memorable sailing aboard the luxury cruise ship, and possibly one of the final trips as ABC has yet to renew the Ryan Murphy produced absurdist dramedy for a Season 2. We need divine intervention here. For goodness sake, Max just admitted to Avery that he wants to build a life with her just moments after Avery also fielded an advance from Tristan. It sounds like the tradwives and sex positives are not the only ones beefing on the ship.
