If you missed Alex Garland’s latest war movie in theaters, good news: The Warfare movie is coming to digital platforms tomorrow.

Co-directed and co-written by Garland and veteran Ray Mendoza, Warfare is based on Mendoza’s real-life experience as a U.S. Navy Seal who fought in the Iraq War. The entire movie is a real-time rendition of one platoon on a single mission in November 2006, during the final stages of the second battle of Ramadi, a battle that led to the deaths of over 80 U.S. soldiers, and wounded hundreds more. The large ensemble cast includes D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai as Mendoza, as well as other platoon members played by Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Joseph Quinn, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, Henry Zaga, and Charles Melton.

As you might expect, Warfare is a harrowing and realistic depictions of the horrors of modern war. But before you pay to watch Warfare at home, you should know that we expect to see Warfare streaming on Max, free to anyone with a subscription, in the next few months. Read on to learn more.

Where to watch the Warfare movie on streaming:

Beginning on Tuesday, May 6 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, May 5) you will be able to buy a digital copy of Warfare on platforms like Amazon Prime, Fandango At Home, Apple TV, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to buy the film, but on Amazon, the film cost $24.99 to pre-order a digital copy. Warfare will not yet be available to rent online.

Warfare is not currently available to stream on any subscription-based services, but the film will eventually be coming to streaming, on Max, thanks to the 2023 deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery, which brings A24’s previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the streaming service Max.

When will Warfare be streaming on Max?

The Warfare streaming release date on Max has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess as to when you can expect to see Warfare on Max.

The A24 deal is a “Pay-1 deal,” which means A24 movies will start streaming on Max in the “Pay 1 window,” meaning that Max will be the first “TV channel” to pay for the rights to Warfare, after the film has been released on digital and home media. One recent A24 title, Babygirl, began streaming on Max on April 25, about four months after its release in theaters, and about three months after its release on digital.

If Warfare follows a similar release strategy, you might see Warfare streaming on Max in about four months, around mid-August 2025.

This is all speculation. The A24 digital and streaming releases have varied by title. If you want to watch Warfare right away, you can buy a digital copy starting tomorrow.
