Whoopi Goldberg is not buying into the recent feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, even going so far as to call it “fake” and “strategic” on a new episode of “The View.”

The “Hot Topics” segment of Monday’s show mainly centered on the back-and-forth between Trump and Musk, which started last week over Trump’s massive government spending bill and escalated to Musk alleging that Trump is in the Epstein files. When “The View” ladies discussed who they think will come out on top, conservative panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin said she’s betting on her former boss.

“My money is on Donald Trump though, because he clapped back and said he’ll go after Elon’s Pentagon contracts,” Griffin said during the live show (via Entertainment Weekly). In response, Goldberg fired back: “I love that y’all bought into it.”

“It’s not fake,” Griffin countered, to which Goldberg replied: “I do believe it’s fake. Yes, I do. It’s too strategic.” After Griffin said she thought Goldberg was giving Trump “too much credit,” Goldberg doubled down.

“Now suddenly everyone’s upset about stuff? I’m sorry, no. This is another distraction to keep us talking — not about the stuff we’re talking about, but the stuff they want us to do,” Goldberg said. “I’m not buying it. I’m not buying it because they lie.”

She continued, “I don’t believe anything they say anymore because they have shown themselves not to be the most trustworthy people.”

Trump and Musk’s divide became a huge talking point last week, especially on late-night television. Jimmy Kimmel skewered the rift by saying: “You’ve got one MAGA hero accusing another MAGA hero of withholding the Epstein files because he himself is a part of them. And what do they do? I can’t wait to find out. My prediction: at the end of this, one of them’s in a cell with Diddy.”
