President Trump is unhappy with Fox News Channel again over the conservative outlet’s poll finding that he has record-low approval ratings after the first 100 days of his second term in office.

“Rupert Murdoch has told me for years that he is going to get rid of his FoxNews, Trump Hating, Fake Pollster, but he has never done so,” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform. “This ‘pollster’ has gotten me, and MAGA, wrong for years.”

Trump added that Murdoch “should start making changes at the China Loving Wall Street Journal. It sucks!!!”

Trump was evidently reacting to a new Fox News poll of American voters, released Wednesday, that found over approval of the president’s job performance was 44% — down 5 points from March and 1 point lower than his then-record 45% approval rating after the 100-day mark in 2017. Trump’s approval ratings in the first 100 days in office are lower than those for Biden (54%), Obama (62%) and George W. Bush (63%), per Fox News.

In 2020, Fox News famously was the first major outlet to call Arizona for Joe Biden, a projection that angered Trump and his followers and generated a backlash viewers even though it turned out to be accurate.

Murdoch, 94, serves as chairman emeritus of Fox Corp., parent of Fox News, as well as News Corp, which owns Dow Jones & Co., publisher of the Wall Street Journal. Reps for Fox News and News Corp did not respond to requests for comment on Trump’s post.

The new Fox News poll found that Trump’s highest approval rating is on border security, with 55% approval. But as Fox News noted, that is the only issue where his ratings are in positive territory: “On immigration, a record high of 47% approve of Trump (48% disapprove), while a new low of 38% approve on the economy (56% disapprove),” according to the outlet’s article about the poll. The president’s worst ratings are on inflation (33% approve, 59% disapprove), followed by tariffs (33%-58%), foreign policy (40%-54%), taxes (38%-53%), and guns (41%-44%).

In addition, per the Fox News poll, Elon Musk’s work with Trump on DOGE was firmly negative, with 39% of Americans approving and 56% disapproving.

The Fox News survey was fielded April 18-21, 2025, with a 1,104 registered U.S. voters “under the direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R),” the outlet said.
