Sunny Hostin is letting it rip on The View after the disappointment of Donald Trump‘s second presidential victory. The co-host — who was forced to walk back her remark about “uneducated white women” on the Nov. 6 show — was once again called out by one of her co-workers for her words this morning.

While speaking with guest Stephen A. Smith about the results of the Nov. 5 election, Hostin asked the sports commentator if he would ever run for office. However, the way she phrased the question rubbed Whoopi Goldberg the wrong way.

Editor’s Note: The View is currently on hiatus. This story originally published on Nov. 7, 2024, when this episode first aired. The View will be back with new episodes on Monday, Dec. 2.

“You’ve been asked, I hear, about running for political office in the future,” Hostin told Smith. “Some people have said that they could see you running for president. Would you do that, you think you’re qualified to run for president?”

She then added, “I mean, the bar is pretty low anyway,” as Smith decisively answered, “Hell no.”

While the audience seemed to laugh at Hostin’s remark, Goldberg didn’t find it too funny. As Smith began to explain himself, Goldberg cut in to ask Hostin, “Can you rephrase that?”

Hostin, who appeared even more fired up in her disgust for Trump than yesterday, replied, “I just think that the bar is really low because Trump really had no political experience and went from zero to 100, right? He didn’t run for city council and stuff like that.”

She continued, “So the bar is low. Anyone can run.”

When Smith did get more of a chance to answer Hostin’s question, he said he’d never run for office because he’s happy with the life he’s living now. Still, he told the co-hosts, “I must confess: I wish I could debate some of these guys. I’d love to be on a debate stage going up against these guys.”

Goldberg playfully warned him, “Don’t say that, because you know we will arrange that.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
