Run, run, run, as fast as you can. You can’t catch him, he’s The Running Man… or can you?
Paramount Pictures dropped the trailer for Edgar Wright‘s new film, starring Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a 35 year old father whose child is “in medical crisis.” Also “blacklisted” when it comes to employment, Ben needs money, and he needs it fast, and Josh Brolin‘s Dan Killian has “a way out: a competition show called The Running Man.
“Bloodlust is our birthright!” a sinister host (Colman Domingo) exclaims. “Set it free!”
Dan, a producer on the show, describes The Running Man in the trailer as “the biggest show in the country,” explaining that the game requires contestants, who are called “Runners,” to attempt to “survive 30 days with the entire nation hunting you down.”
So… is Edgar Wright’s The Running Man (2025) based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel?
Yes! And, this is not the first time that Stephen King‘s 1982 dystopian thriller novel has been adapted for the big screen. Arnold Schwarzenegger led the 1987 film iteration of The Running Man, which also starred Maria Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto, Jim Brown, Jesse Ventura, and Richard Dawson.
Powell told People that Schwarzenegger “gave us his blessing” for the remake.
“Arnold gave us his full blessing and we get to give Arnold a very specific fun gift from the movie in a couple of weeks here,” he added. “So I’m very excited to see him.”
Who is in The Running Man (2025) cast?
Outside of Powell, Brolin, and Domingo, other actors spotted in the new trailer are Jayme Lawson and Micheal Cera. The film also features Katy O’Brian, Lee Pace, William H. Macy, Sean Hayes, and David Zayas.
When is The Running Man (2025) release date?
The Running Man hits theaters on Nov. 7. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer above.
