Paris-based sales company Urban Sales has picked up international rights to “The Doll,” a romantic comedy featuring Vincent Macaigne (“Maria”), Cécile de France (“The New Pope”) and Zoé Marchal (“Overdose”) as a love triangle.

Sophie Beaulieu’s debut feature, “The Doll” will be presented to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

“The Doll” is produced by Novoprod Cinéma, the company behind the Cesar-winning film “Full time,” and “Love me Tender,” which is world premiering at Cannes. Blending heartwarming comedy and fantasy, the film stars Macaigne as Rémi, synthetic turf seller who has been sharing his life with a life-sized doll named Audrey (Marchal) ever since his last breakup which left him heartbroken. When Patricia (de France), a temp worker, joins his company, Audrey mysteriously comes to life, setting off a series of surreal and transformative events that will shake up Rémi’s life for the better.

“On this hilarious feel-good film, Sophie Beaulieu playfully addresses genre clichés through a witty and unexpected love triangle, brilliantly embodied by an A-list cast,” said Urban’s head of sales Florencia Gil.

Co-producers on “The Doll” are Atelier de Production (“Yannick), 31 Juin films (“A Real Job”), Les films du Parc, Borsalino Productions (“King”) and Paprika Films (“Two of Us”). Ad Vitam will release the film theatrically in France, on the second semester.

Urban Sales’ Cannes slate also includes “The Hermit and the Bear,” a French animated feature inspired by the works of Quentin Blake; Gabriel Klinger’s wine drama “Isabel,” produced by RT Features, the Oscar-winning producers of “I’m Still Here”; “Space Cadet,” a family-driven CGI animation, and the Olympics-set comedy “That Summer in Paris,” both widely sold since Berlin.
