“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said on Thursday night that there’s one question about President Donald Trump’s White House that many people are asking in Washington lately.
“Where is Melania?” he said, pointing to a new report that finds the first lady has spent less than 14 days at the White House since Trump took office in January.
Colbert noted that one historian said there hasn’t been “such a low-profile first lady since Bess Truman.”
The “Late Show” host broke out a play in the first lady’s two-word slogan.
“Melania was clearly inspired by Mrs. Truman’s famous catchphrase, ‘Be Bess,’” Colbert cracked.
Trump said his wife isn’t seen much because “she’s a very private person,” but Colbert isn’t buying it.
“Yes, she’s a very private person ― who has film crews following her around for the $40 million documentary about her life,” he said.
