Sean “Diddy” Combs isn’t getting VIP treatment in jail while being held without bail as he awaits trial for his sex trafficking case, according to a former inmate.
“Married at First Sight Australia” alum Timothy Smith, who served time in a US federal prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking, said in a new interview that the embattled rapper likely is not getting any “special treatment” at the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, NY.
“His money and wealth won’t get him any benefits,” Smith told Daily Mail Australia Sunday while reflecting on his own experience behind bars.
The former reality TV star asserted that the federal prison system is “so limited” and that even the rich “don’t get extra privileges.”
“You’re allowed a few basics, like a tracksuit and sneakers from the commissary, but that’s about it. They do raids, and if you try to stockpile, they take everything,” he shared.
Smith also said that Combs, 54, most likely does not “have access to other inmates.”
“People think there are TVs and radios, but where he’s at, there’s nothing, not even a radio. You get a Bible and one book per week. That’s all,” he said.
Smith said the hip-hop mogul will be given only 300 minutes of phone time per month.
“So if you’re on the phone for 30 minutes a day, after 10 days, you get no more phone for the next 20 days,” he shared. “Sometimes you run out of minutes within the first week, and then you’re just left talking to yourself.”
“His wealth won’t help him in here, nothing at all,” he added.
Smith, a skilled pilot, was arrested for drug trafficking in 2006 after flying marijuana across the Canada-US border. He was sentenced to one year in prison, which was reportedly extended due to immigration complications.
If convicted, Combs faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life behind bars after being arrested in New York City on Sept. 16.
He was charged with three counts: racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The Bad Boy Records founder pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held without bail.
Combs’ arrest came nearly a year after his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed a lawsuit accusing him of raping and physically abusing her throughout their 10-year relationship in November 2023.
The exes settled the suit the next day, and while Combs denied any wrongdoing at the time, a video of him assaulting Ventura, 38, at a hotel in 2016 surfaced online in May.
He is facing a number of lawsuits, with a Texas-based attorney claiming just last month that at least 50 more victims, including minors, also plan to pursue legal action.
