Disney‘s R-rated action-comedy “Deadpool & Wolverine” was a box office juggernaut this summer, and the creative team applauded the company for letting them poke plenty of jokes at the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actors’ personal lives and many other frequently taboo topics. But there was one line that Ryan Reynolds was asked not to say by the company.
In interviews ahead of the film’s release, Reynolds confirmed that one Deadpool joke was left out of the movie. Disney’s FYC online portal has released the official script, in which the original joke is written. The moment takes place after Deadpool learns that Magneto is already dead, and breaks the fourth wall in anger: “FUCK! What we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse cock in my throat.”
Director Shawn Levy previously spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the line.
“There was only one line in the entire movie that we were asked to change,” he said. “We have made a pact, Ryan and I, to go to our grave with that line, but I will say that it was replaced with an equally dirty line of dialogue about Pinocchio shoving his face up Deadpool’s ass and starting to lie like crazy. I was like, ‘Ryan, that’s your replacement line in response to, ‘Can we clean it up?’ That’s Ryan Reynolds for you, audacious to the very edge.”
To enjoy plenty of other dirty jokes that weren’t left on the cutting room floor, stream “Deadpool & Wolverine” on Disney+.
