On Monday, the singer appeared on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City showing off her legs in an espresso-colored bodysuit by Louis Vuitton.

Her outfit, which featured an eye-catching train, white dress shirt and sky-high heels, was a coquettish twist on menswear for the coveted event’s theme of the night, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

The “Please Please Please” artist revealed to Vogue on the red carpet that music producer Pharrell Williams, a Met Gala co-chair this year, was the muse behind her no-pants look this year.

“I’m such a massive fan of Pharrell’s and have been to the [Met Gala] and I was just like, ‘If I could go this year with him, that would be my dream’ and it came true. And he was like ‘You’re quite short, so no pants for you,’ so here we are,” Carpenter quipped.

The pop star, who made her Met Gala debut in 2022, told the outlet she’s “living on the edge tonight” with her unconventional look.

While some social media users on X, formerly Twitter, gushed over the outfit, many argued that the addition of pants would have taken her look to the next level.
