“Dancing with the Stars” is officially coming back, as ABC has renewed the reality competition series for Season 34.
Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin is set to compete, following in his sister, Bindi Irwin’s, footsteps. Bindi took home the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015’s Season 21 with her partner, Derek Hough.
The son of the late Steve Irwin, Robert made headlines earlier this month with a racy campaign for Australian underwear brand, Bonds. “Also, I’m at this point in my life where I’m trying to do as many different and random exciting things, and if it’s something that makes me a little bit nervous, that I’ve never done before and it’s a bit of an adrenaline rush? That’s what I want to be doing,” he told People.
In 2024, Bindi revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she’d love to see her mother, Terri, and her brother compete on the show, saying, “I think you guys would be really good at that.” At the time, he responded, “I’d give that a go!”
Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars” attracted younger viewers, earning the show’s best adults 18-34 ratings in four years. The season also culminated with the highest total viewership with 7.95 million in over three years, and broke several voting records; the teams received 32 million votes in the finale.
“Dancing With the Stars” is produced by BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions. Season 34, set for fall, will air on ABC and Disney+ and stream next day on Hulu. The full list of celebrity cast and pro dancers will be announced at a later date.
