Some jewels are just accessories. Others come with a backstory. On Tuesday, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands reached for the second kind. The queen stepped out on her own in Lichtenvoorde, wearing a pair of showstopping earrings she hasn’t been seen with in a while: a large, geometric blue stone framed by a single row of diamonds.
