Prinsjesdag, or “Prince’s Day,” falls every third Tuesday in September and formally opens the new parliamentary year. The day follows a fixed script: the royal procession travels from Noordeinde Palace to the Koninklijke Schouwburg, where King Willem-Alexander delivers the Speech from the Throne. This year’s ceremony is once again being held at the Royal Theater rather than the Binnenhof, which remains under renovation.
