Prince William’s good friend, billionaire Sunjay Kapur, is dead after a shocking freak accident.

The businessman died after a bee stung him in the mouth during a polo match in England on Thursday, which triggered anaphylactic shock that caused his heart to stop, the Mirror reports.

According to the outlet, the 53-year-old collapsed on the field.

“He was full of life, laughing, joking, then gone in an instant,” an insider also told the Mirror.

Witnesses told the Telegraph that Kapur said, “I’ve swallowed something.”

A severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to bee stings is potentially life-threatening and requires emergency treatment, according to the Mayo Clinic. But only a small percentage of people who are stung by a bee or other insects quickly develop anaphylaxis.

Kapur, who was the chairman of global car parts manufacturer Sona Comstar, became friends with William through playing polo.

His death was confirmed by the company in a statement to Indian newspaper the Hindu, which said that his death was caused by “a sudden heart attack.”

“A visionary leader, Mr. Kapur played a pivotal role in shaping Sona Comstar into a global mobility technology company built on innovation, sustainability, and purpose,“ the statement reads.

Kapur was also known for previously being married to Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor, whom he shared two children with: daughter Samaira and son Kiian. Their acrimonious divorce was finalized in 2016.

He remarried in 2017, tying the knot with actress and model Priya Sachdev — his third wife — and they welcomed son Azarius together in 2018.

His net worth was $1.2 billion, according to Forbes.
