Prince Harry is looking at his life in the U.K. in the rearview mirror.
After losing his latest appeal to dismiss the U.K. government’s prior decision against his security personnel, the Duke of Sussex explained why he doesn’t see himself visiting with his wife Meghan Markle and their children Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, in the near future.
“I can’t see a world where I would be bringing my wife and kids back to the U.K. at this point,” Harry, 40, told the BBC in an interview from California May 2, hours after the ruling. “And the things that they’re going to miss is well, everything. I love my country. I always have, despite what some people in that country have done.”
“I miss the U.K.,” Harry emphasized. “I miss parts of the U.K. of course I do. And I think that it’s quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”
The Spare author and Meghan, 42, announced they were stepping away from duties as senior royals in 2020, moving with then-toddler Archie to California, where the family of four now live. Since then, Harry has been battling to retain his security detail, which was stripped amid his departure as a working royal.
