If the upcoming HBO Max switcharoo wasn’t enough, Paramount+ has instituted a new rebrand for its highest tier plan.
According to a notice on the help page of the streaming service’s website, Paramount+ “updated the name of [their] ad-free plan from Paramount+ with SHOWTIME to Paramount+ Premium” on Monday (June 23). As for why they opted for the name change, the streamer noted that they “recently introduced a sampling of SHOWTIME programming to the Essential plan,” and that “the Premium plan name reflects the broad and diverse offerings across both plan tiers.”
Some of the Showtime shows that are now available on the Paramount+ Essential plan are Season 1 of Yellowjackets, Seasons 1 and 2 of Couples Therapy, Season 1 of The Agency: Central Intelligence, and all eight seasons of Dexter.
“SHOWTIME programming remains an important part of Paramount+, and is still prominently represented on the service!” the notice continues. “In addition, the name of the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME network on your cable, satellite, or live TV streaming service (like Hulu with Live TV) will not be changing.”
The price and features of the plan have not changed, meaning that the plan will still cost $12.99/month or $119.99/year, and will include ad-free streaming (outside of live TV), all Showtime content, downloadable movies and shows, access to your local CBS station (including NFL on CBS and UEFA Champions League live) and CBS News coverage, up to six individual profiles on your account, streaming on up to three devices concurrently, 40,000+ full episodes and hit movies on demand, and exclusive, subscriber-only originals.
