Meghan McCain didn’t hold back in her criticism of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s “gaudy” $50 million wedding.
The former “View” co-host railed against the over-the-top nuptials as a “waste of money” on Tuesday’s episode of her “Citizen McCain” podcast.
The 40-year-old started her shade by mocking a photo from the newlyweds’ ceremony, quipping, “That carpet that looks like I picked it up from Home Depot on the way home.”
McCain went on to blast the “egregious … display of gratuitous wealth” event — especially as there is “a lot of anger about [billionaires] not paying their fair share of taxes [and] not giving back the way they should.”
With “socialism on the rise,” the former “Outnumbered” host called Bezos and Sánchez’s Venice, Italy, wedding a “weird” choice.
“[Bezos said], ‘Screw it, Im gonna have the most ridiculous, gaudy, over-the-top, celebrity-filled wedding in a city that I have no relationship to … and we’re gonna screw up this city for a period of time and then show the entire world how much money we have and how much money you don’t,’” McCain claimed.
She said the Amazon founder has “no social awareness of what’s going on in the world.”
While McCain found the nuptials “impersonal and tacky,” she clarified that she is “not mad at rich people” and “not mad at Amazon” but simply doesn’t “understand the optics.”
She even compared the star-studded event to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s May 2018 ceremony.
“Like, why [was] George Clooney [there]?” McCain asked of the royal wedding, alleging Bezos and Sánchez “invite[d] celebrities just to show [they] can.”
She posted a clip of her takedown to Instagram, writing, “What else can we expect from a tacky, tone-deaf billionaire I guess? 🤷♀️”
McCain previously made headlines for slamming Bezos when the Blue Origin founder briefly went to space.
“I know this space tourism is really exciting for some,” McCain tweeted at the time. “But I just keep thinking about how Jeff Bezos employees have to pee in water bottles because they don’t get bathroom breaks and where all this money could have gone for seven minutes of an ego stroke.”
Sánchez was similarly met with backlash when she embarked on an all-female spaceflight earlier this year.
Emily Ratajkowski called the trip “beyond parody” in April, while Olivia Munn pronounced it “gluttonous” on the “Today” show.
Over the weekend, Munn subtly dissed Bezos and Sánchez’s nuptials.
The actress, 44, reacted to Mia Farrow’s Instagram post praising Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott’s charitable donations, calling the 55-year-old “truly incredible.”
Bezos was married to Scott from 1993 to 2019, the same year Sánchez divorced ex-husband Patrick Whitesell.
