Take Mark Consuelos out to the ball game!

Baseball was on the Live with Kelly and Mark co-host’s mind on Monday, as he told viewers about a father going viral for catching a foul ball at the Yankee game on Saturday (May 3) while his daughter covered his eyes from atop his shoulders.

After watching the clip of the iconic catch, Kelly Ripa teased, “Sign him. Sign him to a contract.”

Consuelos, who said he “went to hundreds of baseball games as a kid growing up” and who still attends many as an adult, lamented that he has “never caught a foul ball.”

“Then one day I went, and I had some pretty good seats, and I got a foul ball and I had a beer in my hand,” he recalled. “Right? It was coming to me. It was coming to me, and I didn’t want to spill the beer. And I missed the foul ball. I will never forgive myself for that. Meanwhile, that guy, he’s blind and he catches it. Didn’t drop the ball.”

Ripa told Consuelos he “made the right choice,” asking him what he was going to do with the ball after he caught it.

Consuelos replied, “No, as a baseball fan, you wanna catch a ball. I have balls that have been given to me, but it’s not the same.”

Then Ripa proposed that Consuelos “should go there and throw out a first pitch,” an idea he immediately shut down.

“No. No, no. I can throw a baseball very, very well, but I definitely, I’ve seen —,” he began.

Ripa added, “No, we’d love to see the video of you trying. Oh, we would capitalize on that here. Oh, for years.”

Live EP Michael Gelman chimed in, “Just the drama leading up to it.”

Consuelos claimed he would get “the yips,” noting that “you can’t skip it in.”

“It can’t bounce, you can’t lob it in. You gotta throw it in, you gotta really — oww,” he said, rubbing his shoulder after attempting some fake throws. “See, I can’t do it. I’m injured.”

However, Consuelos changed his tune, insisting “that feels good” for his rotator cuff.

Ripa quipped, “Yeah, you just loosened it up. You tore it all the way.”

Consuelos added, “Yeah, the adhesions. I popped ’em.”
