Forget the mafia you thought you knew. In Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5, streaming exclusively on Peacock, Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) is dealing with the Camorra, an old-school crime family straight from Naples, Italy. Stabler first encountered the group when he was working abroad and arrested Isabella Spezzano (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) for murdering her husband. In exchange for a new life in upstate New York with her grandchildren—Roman (Alberto Frezza), Pietro (Luca Rickman), and Gia (Analise Scarpaci)—Isabella informed on her brother Rocco Spezzano (Anthony Skordi), the head of the Camorra syndicate, and got him sent to prison.

Now six years later, the Camorra have expanded their criminal empire to NYC with Roman as their leader by proxy. In addition to starting a turf war with the Los Santos gang, the Camorra want revenge against Stabler. Stabler’s police officer son Eli (Nicky Torchia) shoots and kills Pietro during a confrontation between the Camorra and Los Santos, and Stabler must find out who is pulling the strings back in Italy to save his son from retribution.

In this exclusive clip, Stabler asks the squad’s tech expert, Kyle Vargas (Tate Ellington), to check in on Rocco via the prison’s security cameras. “Are you asking me to?” begins Vargas. “Yes, hack their system,” says Stabler. As Vargas starts to do his thing, Sergeant Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt) comes over. “I thought we already verified that he was behind bars,” says Bell firmly. “We did, but now we’re confirming it,” replies Stabler simply.

It doesn’t take Vargas long to gain access to their cameras. “According to the prison’s registry, Rocco Spezzano is in cell number 217,’ says Vargas. Stabler instructs him to zoom in on the room so he can get a better look. Both men are shocked when the prisoner they see is not Rocco! “Sarge, this is not Rocco,” says Stabler shakily. “Back in the day, I interviewed the man for 9 and a half hours—that is not Rocco Spezzano.” Vargas quickly pulls up Rocco’s arrest mugshot which indeed does not match the man on his screen.

“Holy shit, that’s not Rocco,” says Bell in shock. “He must have bribed the officials and had the guards move in some other inmate,” says Stabler. “Rocco might be here.” As Bell sets off to contact Europol, she has a task for Stabler. “I just got a call from Father De Luca,” says Bell. “He wants to talk to you. Go down there and hear him out.”

Is Rocco the person responsible for the Camorra coming to NYC? Has he been running the crime family all along? Find out tomorrow when the new episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime drops on Peacock.
