Kevin Hart didn’t hold back any punches after delivering a joke about Diddy while hosting the 2025 BET Awards.
During his opening monologue at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday evening, the comedian slid in a joke about the disgraced rapper, who is currently in custody while embroiled in a federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial.
“I’m shutting down the idea of after parties. No after parties tonight. None. Take your asses home after this,” Hart joked.
He then teased that he decided to host the ceremony on a Monday because “people have to go to work tomorrow.”
“No after parties. That’s where shit gets slippery at those goddamn after parties,” he continued. “We’re learning a lot about people, ain’t we?”
Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, had become known for throwing lavish white parties in the ’90s and 2000s. More recently, he has become known for alleged “freak-off” sex parties involving his romantic partners and multiple sex workers. Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, Combs’ ex-girlfriend, testified that Combs demanded many bottles of baby oil at the encounters.
While Hart’s joke garnered chuckles from the crowd, social media users on X, formerly Twitter, were left divided over the quip.
The Bad Boy Records founder was initially charged with one count of racketeering conspiracy; one count of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and one count of transportation to engage in prostitution following his arrest in September.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The record producer could face up to life in prison if convicted.
