Katie Thurston’s breast cancer battle has taken yet another heartbreaking turn.
The “Bachelorette” alum, 34, revealed she’s in “medically induced menopause” months after doctors informed her that her cancer had progressed to stage 4.
“Slept like s–t because I’m now in medically induced menopause, which means I get hot flashes,” Thurston said Tuesday in an Instagram Story.
“Tonight I have to be social so I figured I would ease into that by being social with you guys during the day. In the meantime, show you kind of what a normal day looks like for me.”
Thurston started her video by grabbing herself a glass of water because of her medicine makes her feel “so dehydrated.”
“My lips have been chapped for what feels like two weeks straight. And so it’s this game of, like, catch-up and trying to just make sure I get enough water,” she explained.
“Which I was already bad at before medication and now it’s like a true task every day to force myself to consume water. So, good morning!”
She wrote across the clip: “Tired AF from menopause and dehydration AF from medication.”
The reality TV star announced her breast cancer had moved into stage 4 and her doctors discovered that the disease had spread to her liver in March.
“It is fairly small, however it does put me at stage four,” Thurston wrote on Instagram at the time.
In light of the new update, she started on her “new treatment plan” in early April.
“I know stage 4 can sound very scary, and it can be,” she continued, adding that she was “very optimistic” about her outcome since she is “triple positive” that the spots found on her liver were “fairly small.”
Thurston announced she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in February, shortly after celebrating Valentine’s Day with her now-husband Jeff Arcuri.
