Netflix has released the trailer for “Sirens,” a new limited series led by Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock.
The series follows three women at a beach estate over Labor Day weekend. Fahy plays Devon, who is troubled by her sister Simone’s (Alcock), attachment to her socialite employer, Michaela Kell (Moore). In trying to step in between the two, Devon discovers that “she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be,” according to the official logline. The trailer shows that Michaela, better known as Kiki, runs a cultish-ish group that has taken over Simone’s life.
The cast also includes Kevin Bacon, Glenn Howerton, Bill Camp, Josh Segarra, Felix Solis, Trevor Salter, Lauren Weedman, Britne Oldford and Jenn Lyon.
The show was created by Molly Smith Metzler, who was previously behind “Maid.” Executive producers include Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin via LuckyChap (the company was also part of “Maid.”)
“Sirens” is adapted from Metzler’s play, “Elemeno Pea,” and is the first project from the writer’s overall deal with Netflix. Through the multi-year deal, Metzler committed to “socially conscious” projects that “offer roles for women both in front of and behind the camera.” Metzler has also written on “Orange Is the New Black” and “Shameless.”
“From day one, my collaboration with the entire Netflix team has been open, creative, and wildly supportive,” Metzler previously said about the announcement of her overall deal. “I’m honored to call Netflix my home and very excited to keep this party going!”
The series hits Netflix May 22. Watch the trailer below.
