“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart called out President Donald Trump and other key members of his administration, especially Elon Musk, for evading accountability at every turn.
“If there’s one thing that this administration does better than anybody I’ve ever seen it’s play the victim,” Stewart said on his “Weekly Show” podcast. “I’ve never seen any people, ever, including when my kids were 3 and 2 years old, evade accountability and responsibility, and blame others in the way that these people do. It’s truly shameless.”
Musk offered to appear on “The Daily Show” for an interview in February after Stewart criticized him during the broadcast.
The tech billionaire and administration’s DOGE leader had one condition: The interview would have to air unedited.
Stewart quickly accepted, saying that’s how most “Daily Show” interviews air anyway.
Stewart said this week he’s heard nothing since then, even after reaching out to Musk via DM to help make the interview happen.
“I got ghosted,” he said. “I got left on read, man.”
Musk is leaving the government soon, and “Weekly Show” podcast producer Lauren Walker told Stewart that the Tesla CEO has said his departure is because of the “nasty and unethical attacks from the left.”
“Completely, I’m sure, undeserved,” Stewart snarked in response. “In no way reflective of standing on a stage with a chainsaw, celebrating the loss of livelihoods for tens of thousands of well-intentioned government workers, I’m sure.”
