Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has become the latest conservative politician — but the first sitting congress member — to sell videos on Cameo, joining a long list of “MAGA grifter-types” shilling personalized clips on the platform, as Live host Jimmy Kimmel put it during a recent broadcast.
During Tuesday’s (Nov. 26) episode of Live, Kimmel shared a list of politicians or public figures tied to Donald Trump who are now on the platform, including Matt Gaetz, George Santos, Sean Spicer and Alan Dershowitz.
“There is something kind of refreshing about the fact that these people don’t even pretend to be doing a job anymore,” Kimmel pointed out. “They’re just sort of cashing out.”
The late night host also brutally roasted Boebert, who was once escorted out of a Denver production of Beetlejuice: The Musical by security for vaping and being unruly during the show. Footage also showed Boebert grabbing her date’s crotch during the show, according to New York Post.
“Lauren Boebert made history yesterday, made ‘herstory,’ by becoming the first sitting member of Congress to join Cameo,” Kimmel told viewers Tuesday, before adding, “She’s the first member of Congress to do a lot of things while sitting.”
He explained that her short-lived Cameo account allowed fans to request a birthday message or ask for advice for just $250. Kimmel joked that she was also offering the option to “get cranked during a family musical.”
“It’s quite a deal actually,” he said. “For only $250 you get a personalized message, for $350 you get a personalized message with release.”
Boebert’s Cameo account was only activated for a brief amount of time. By Tuesday evening, it had already been deactivated.
According to Kimmel, Boebert had it “backwards.”
“She should stay on Cameo and disappear from Congress. Not the other way around,” he said.
It would certainly have been entertaining to see Kimmel prank Boebert similarly to how he pranked Santos using Cameo. The late night host had an entire segment on the show called “Will Santos Say It?” in which he submitted hilarious requests for video messages from the former politician.
Kimmel joked on the show that buying Santos’s services with your credit card could be a risky move, considering the charges for identity theft that he was facing.
“On one hand, you hate to give money to a guy like George Santos, but on the other, eh, pretty good chance he has your credit card information already,” Kimmel said.
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
