Jimmy Kimmel called out one of President Trump’s many recent legal battles on Live after the president continued to insist that Canada could still become part of the United States, despite Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s very clear refusal.
Kimmel shared a clip from President Trump and Carney’s meeting in the Oval Office during Tuesday’s (May 6) episode of Live.
“Poor Mark Carney had a hell of a job today it was like an Ewok going to a meeting on the Death Star,” Kimmel joked. “He handled it well, though, he handled it very well. He came prepared and, in a friendly way, he made sure Trump knows they have no intention of becoming our 51st state.”
In the clip, Carney outrightly tells Trump, “As you know, in real estate there are some places that are never for sale… Having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign the last several months, it’s not for sale, [it] won’t be for sale ever,” to which Trump replies, “Never say never.”
The interaction spurred Kimmel to point out that Trump “doesn’t take no for an answer.”
“In fact, he was found liable for it in a court of law,” Kimmel said, referring to the 2023 trial in which President Trump was found liable for the sexual abuse of writer E. Jean Carroll in 1996. Carroll was awarded $5 million at the time.
Kimmel will never let President Trump – or his supporters – forget about his legal troubles. Whether he’s calling him out for reportedly bankrupting six businesses or for being convicted on 34 counts in his 2024 hush money case, this late night host will always seize an opportunity to remind everyone.
Just last year, he blasted conservatives for criticizing President Biden after he pardoned his son, Hunter Biden.
“They have to be kidding right? Everyone who voted to let a 34-time convicted felon off the hook is very mad about Joe Biden letting his son off the hook,” he said at the time.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
