Jax Taylor responded to the backlash to his appearance on Watch What Happens Live while he was sitting right there in the Bravo Clubhouse.
On Tuesday night’s (June 17) episode of the late-night talk show, host Andy Cohen asked Taylor to respond to Bravo fans who were “mad” about his appearance and didn’t think he should be given the platform after the way he treated his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright in The Valley.
“I want to apologize to everybody who’s watching this right now. The stuff that was shown is pretty triggering to a lot of people,” Taylor said. “I’m watching it back — I watch the episodes now, which is a first — and you watch it back and I’m utterly embarrassed of my actions.”
“Nobody should ever have to deal with the way I acted. Nobody should have to deal with verbal abuse from anybody,” he continued. “That being said, I’m really sorry that people had to see all that.”
Taylor added that he was also “very sorry” to Cartwright, noting, “It was a very, very, very tough year for both of us.”
Their toxic separation has been documented throughout The Valley’s second season. While Taylor spent much of Season 2 away in a treatment center, Cartwright continued to receive rage texts from her estranged husband, who had also uncovered the security cameras in their house to spy on her. When Taylor returned home from rehab in Tuesday night’s episode, Cartwright served him with divorce papers.
While Bravo fans were largely disappointed in the network for allowing Taylor to appear on WWHL, Cohen did a decent job at holding his feet to the fire.
When Taylor said his “biggest regret” was not ending his marriage to Cartwright sooner, Cohen fired back, “Your biggest regret, maybe, should also be how you’ve treated her.” He also reminded Taylor that their financial situation is a “mess of [his] own making,” and urged the Vanderpump Rules alum to “be kind” to his estranged wife if he truly wants an amicable relationship.
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
