Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ sex trafficking trial is officially underway in New York City.

Combs is facing five federal counts, including charges for sex trafficking and racketeering, in addition to over 80 sexual assault lawsuits detailing decades of physical and emotional abuse that allegedly took place throughout his glamorous career.

Now, he is getting his day in court.

Jury selection is now underway for the trial. Per NPR, the jury selection process will last for about a week and opening statements are set to begin May 12. The trial is expected to last eight to 10 weeks overall. Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges. But if he is found guilty, he faces 15 years to life in prison.

The trial will surely be a spectacle. Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Cassandra Ventura, otherwise known as Cassie, is expected to take the stand to testify against Combs. She filed an explosive lawsuit in 2023 accusing him of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.

Many celebrity trials have been televised and live streamed in the past. When Gwyneth Paltrow was sued by someone claiming she crashed into them while skiing in 2016, the eight-day-long trial drew nearly 30 million viewers across YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok, dwarfing the 2023 Oscars by a couple million.

Given his high profile, Combs’ trial could surely draw a media blitz. But will it be live streamed?

Is there a live stream of the P Diddy trial?

No, there will not be a broadcast or live stream of the P Diddy trial. According to Newsweek, federal courts prohibit video recording and broadcasting.

But those interested in the case can tune into The Fall of Diddy, a three-part documentary series from Investigation Discovery detailing the alleged “violent behavior and illegal activity” they witnessed firsthand.

The series is available to stream on Max.
