Stars Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”) and Brenda Song (“Running Point”) have been tapped to announce this year’s major Emmy nominations on Tuesday, July 15, at 8:30 a.m. PT/11:30 a.m. ET, according to the Television Academy. The ceremony will stream live from the Academy’s Wolf Theatre on emmys.com/nominations.
Television Academy chair Cris Abrego is set to also join Guillén and Song at the nominations announcement. “This year’s submissions reflect the remarkable talent, innovation and breadth that define our industry,” Abrego said in a statement. “Great storytelling depends on the collaboration, dedication and vision of so many across our creative community. I’m thrilled to welcome Harvey and Brenda to help us honor the nominees and kick off what promises to be an unforgettable Emmy celebration.”
In 2025, the Television Academy received 228 total submissions across drama, comedy, and limited or anthology series. Across the 15 program categories, there are exactly 600 total series in contention. This year’s nominations-round voting took place between June 12 and June 23.
Guillén has played “Guillermo de la Cruz” on all six seasons of FX’s Emmy-nominated comedy “What We Do in the Shadows.” He’s also earned five Critics Choice Award nominations for supporting actor and won two Imagen Awards. Guillén recently starred in the Warner Bros. sci-fi thriller “Companion” and Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Life of Chuck” and Disney+’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.” Next, he will executive produce and star in the comedy “Damned If You Do” and has wrapped production on the films “Spicy Will,” “(Saint) Peter” and “That Friend.”
Song just received Variety’s Virtuoso Award at the 2025 Bentonville Film Festival, and is currently starring opposite Kate Hudson in the Netflix comedy “Running Point.” She was also in the feature “The Last Showgirl” and in Amazon’s romantic comedy “Love Accidentally.” Other recent credits include Hulu’s “Dollface” and Netflix’s “Secret Obsession.” Earlier in her career, she was a staple on Disney series including “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” and “The Suite Life on Deck.”
The 77th Emmy Awards will be hosted by Nate Bargatze and broadcast live Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS, as well as stream live and on demand via select packages on Paramount+.
