Grimes gave rare insight into her and Elon Musk’s contentious custody battle.
The singer alleged via X Wednesday that she could not see one of their three children for five months while spending “a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights.”
Grimes, who shares X AE A-XII, 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and Tau Techno Mechanicus, 2, with her ex, claimed her “Instagram posts and modeling [were] used as reasons [she] shouldn’t have” the child.
“[I was] fighting and detaching from the love of my life as he comes unrecognizable to me, with a fraction of his resources (or iq/strategy experience),” she added of the Tesla founder.
“All the while I didn’t see one of my babies for 5 months,” Grimes, 36, continued. “And this is only what can be said publicly, since most of my experience these last years should remain behind closed doors.”
The performer clarified that she is “grateful for every bullet that [she] caught,” writing that she has “poetry and pure raw emotions pouring out” into her music.
In another post, Grimes explained why her music has been delayed.
“The threat of losing ur kids while going bankrupt fighting for them is not very conducive to creative thoughts,” she claimed. “I just slept and cried every minute I wasn’t explicitly fighting for my kids during that year.”
Reps for Grimes and Musk have yet to respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
The former couple were in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2018 to 2022.
Son X was born in 2020, followed by daughter Exa (aka Y) and son Tau in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Grimes’ claims come four months after her mom, Sandy Garossino, made headlines for alleging that Musk was “withholding” the little ones and their passports.
The custody battle began in September 2023 when Grimes and Musk, 53, sued each other for parental rights in California and Texas, respectively — and a final decision on jurisdiction has yet to be reached.
Business Insider reported two months later that Grimes had unsuccessfully attempted to track her ex down at 12 different locations to serve him custody papers.
Musk is also the father of six children with ex-wife Justine Wilson — late infant Nevada, twins Vivian and Griffin and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian.
Notably, he is estranged from his eldest daughter, with the transgender 20-year-old blasting him this summer for claiming she had been “killed [by] the woke mind virus.”
Musk has also welcomed 3-year-old twins Strider and Azure with Shivon Zilis, as well as an infant earlier this year.
The New York Times reported last month that Musk purchased a $35 million compound in Texas, where he allegedly plans for two of his children’s mothers to live with their kids.
The SpaceX founder denied this to Page Six in October, claiming that “no grand family compound/home has been built or is expected to be built.”
