Though, she’s acknowledged that creating the beloved rom-com wasn’t always a thrill.
Because as they went to create one of the movie’s most iconic scenes, they found something evil lurking in the dark. Speaking at Ruffalo’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in February 2024, Garner referenced his other costars from what she dubbed his “rom-com era,” questioning if they “enjoyed Mark’s anxiety as much as I did.”
Her particular memory was from when they began putting together the flick’s big dance scene.
As Garner recalled, Ruffalo “tried to drop out” after their first rehearsal of the “Thriller” number, noting, “Mark went from kind of shocked that we actually had to do this, to antsy, to a deathly quiet, to, ‘Bro, this is not for me.'”
Instead, though, she held him tight (“I don’t know what you would’ve done without me,” Garner joked) and now we get to honor the film’s anniversary to see which stars are still flirty and thriving.
