“Fortnite” has set singer Bruno Mars as the icon of its next “Fortnite Festival.”
The 16-time Grammy Award winner will debut on the gaming platform’s new festival Main Stage (this one with neon lights and a modern, angular aesthetic) for Season 9 of the in-game event, which kicks off June 18.
Previous “Fortnite Festival” icons include Sabrina Carpenter (Season 8), Hatsune Miku (Season 7), Snoop Dogg (Season 6), Karol G (Season 5), Metallica (Season 4), Billie Eilish (Season 3), Lady Gaga (Season 2), The Weeknd (Season 1).
Per “Fortnite,” which is owned by Epic Games, the Fortnite Shop’s Mars-themed Season 9 music pass will feature:
“Die With A Smile Bruno Outfit: based on Bruno’s outfits in the official music video for ‘Die With A Smile!’ The real-life outfit was designed by Astrid Gallegos, and the real-life hat was made by Stetson. Face the end of the world boldly with love by your side… and uh… some ammunition. Unlock the heart-holster Dreamer’s Two-Shot Back Bling as a free reward near the beginning of the Pass. Progress further to unlock the premium Heavenly Style! Before the end of the world comes, why not strum with a smile? The Last Reprise Guitar, based on the guitar in the music video, is unlockable as a premium reward in the Music Pass! Keep the beat going like the apocalypse isn’t now with the premium APT Kit Drums or grab the premium Bruno-San’s Theme Song Jam Track. Towards the end of the Pass, you’ll unlock Dreamer Bruno’s Heavenly Style. Look divine – even when the party’s over.”
Players will be able to acquire these in-game items individually or altogether in the “World Tour” bundle: Bruno-San Outfit, Bruno’s Collection Back Bling, Floating Notes Contrail, Bonde do Brunão Emote and the Bonde do Brunão Jam Track, Gacha Keys Keytar and Worldwide Bass.
The Mars-led “Fortnite Festival” Season 9 will also incorporate Lady Gaga and Mars’ “Die With A Smile,” and ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT” as “jam tracks.”
