And that’s not the only time the former Public Enemy cofounder was in the news last year for spreading positivity—Flavor Flav also took the time to hype up Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles after her bronze medal was taken away by the International Olympic Committee.

“Jordan, I know they tried to take your medal away from you,” he told the gymnast at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards when they took the stage to present Best Collaboration, “but you know what, I got you something that they can’t take away from you.”

He then placed a huge, bedazzled clock around her neck, to which she replied, “Wow. I don’t even know what to say here! Thank you so much.”

Flavor Flav also sponsored the U.S. Women’s water polo team at the 2024 Olympic Games, bringing even more light to women’s sports in the process.

“When the women aren’t in the water playing water polo and everything, you know, they’re home, working active jobs,” he explained in an interview with NPR last August. “One, two and three jobs. These girls are out here busting their butt to make the United States look good. So when they’re out here playing and practicing, it takes them away from their work. So I said to myself, why not step in and try to help these girls out?”
