Focus Features has released the first trailer for “Bugonia,” the latest collaboration between director Yorgos Lanthimos and star Emma Stone.
“Bugonia” is a remake of the South Korean sci-fi comedy “Save the Green Planet.” It revolves around two conspiracy-obsessed friends who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major corporation because they are convinced she’s an alien intent on destroying Earth. Jesse Plemons leads the cast alongside Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone.
Lanthimos is directing from a script by Will Tracy.
Behind the scenes, he has assembled his artisans including editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis (who has edited all of Lanthimos’ films), cinematographer Robbie Ryan, production designer James Price, and composer Jerskin Fendrix. Johnnie Burn is on board as the film’s sound mixer.
The film will open in select theaters for a special limited engagement on Oct. 24. followed by a wide expansion on Oct. 31.
