Former Amazon MGM Studios and GFM Films exec Edoardo Bussi has launched international production and sales company Twenty-Nine Palms Entertainment, which will debut at next month’s Cannes Film Market with its first slate of films.
The London-based company is founded by Bussi who brings an extensive range of experience in international distribution, production and worldwide sales. His career started at GFM Films where he rose to executive vice president over six years, before joining Evolution Pictures in 2015, managing film finance and business development. In 2018, he joined MGM as vice president of international sales contributing to international release strategies for major theatrical tentpoles such as “House of Gucci,” “No Time to Die” and “Licorice Pizza,” and collaborating on internal productions and acquisitions. His credits include films by Simon West, Terry Jones, Christopher Jenkins, Lars Klevberg, Oz Perkins and Billy Porter.
Twenty-Nine Palms Entertainment is a “visionary production company committed to supporting filmmaking with a transparent, market-driven approach, integrating production, financing, and distribution strategies from the earliest stages of development,” according to a statement. “Focusing on selecting, developing, and distributing high-quality films that balance artistic vision with commercial appeal, the company creates tailored strategies that maximize each film’s potential across various platforms and distribution models, from theatrical and streaming, to ancillary markets.”
The company will present original productions as well as projects developed in partnership with international producers, including London-based Kirby Wilkinson Picture Company (“The Pugilist”), Italian-based Studio X01 (“Escort Club”), L.A.-based Twenty2 Films (“North Star”) and Amsterdam-based Global Film Partners (“Boychoir,” “Kidnapping Mr. Heineken,” “The Windmill”).
Bussi said: “The independent film landscape is evolving, and filmmakers need a partner who understands both creative integrity and market realities. Our goal is to have creative storytelling at the heart of the company, with a bridge to strategic global outreach from the outset, ensuring a filmmaker’s project is positioned for success – creatively, financially, and commercially – throughout the entire process.”
Bussi will meet with industry partners in Cannes, where further details on Twenty-Nine Palms Entertainment’s first titles will be announced.
