Noting how grateful she is that those close to her were willing to share the uncomfortable truth about her weight, she said, “I’ve seen how it is to not have enough time. And I don’t want anybody to think, ‘If I had said something to her, she would still be here, she would have taken that step.'”

Though she worried the medication would leave her feeling permanently sick to her stomach, her doctor prescribed an anti-nausea medication, “And as soon as I took that, I would be fine for the rest of the week.” 

What the injection did do was immediately calm her cravings. 

“Once I started to see that I was getting full a lot less quickly, I was able to actually eat half a portion of my meal,” Bonnie explained. “And I was like, ‘Okay, I’m good. I feel really fulfilled.’ It really made me feel like I was able to get somewhere, and it’s helped me build some really good habits. Even if I go a week or two without taking it, I’m able to eat less portions, which really helps me maintain my weight loss.”
