“Here After” actress Elissa Middleton and “Wild District’s” Javier Fuentes-León are set to star in Daniel Talbott’s (“The Conners”) latest feature drama, “Soft Animal.”

Stephen Laughton (“One Jewish Boy”) wrote the script with Ron Cohen (“Queen & Slim”), Kirkland Tibbels, and Talbott serving as producers.

The film is a queer story that follows Noam, a thirtysomething stuck in a loving-but-stagnant relationship with his partner, Dustin (Holder). As he reconnects with a much younger ex who’s living off the grid in the desert, he’s pulled into a hot, hazy journey of sex, memory, and rediscovering desire. As Noam drifts between two lovers, two landscapes, and two versions of who he might be, he must figure out what it means to choose himself, even when it hurts.

The film is the second feature collaboration between Talbott and Holder, with the pair previously working together on Midday Black Midnight Blue, which Talbott co-directed, co-wrote, and produced, and Holder produced and starred.

Talbott who is currently in production on the feature doc “Welcome to the Tool Shed” with Andrew Klaus-Vineyard said, “For me, the films by queercore artists like John Waters, Jennie Livingston, and Gregg Araki have always been a torch, a revolution, and a calling. In every way, ‘Soft Animal’ was born out of my deep love and mad respect for this kind of filmmaking: stories from the nastiest, most vulnerable, raw, scared, and sacred parts of one’s self.”

The film begins production this Summer.

Daniel Talbott is repped by Signature Ltd. Lovell Holder is repped by Writers House and 42West. Javier Fuentes-León is repped by MGMT Entertainment and CAA.
