“Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic on Tuesday clowned President Donald Trump over his annexation threats toward Canada following his Oval Office meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
“Donald Trump has been obsessed with making Canada the 51st state ever since he found out Epstein Island was not eligible,” she joked of Trump, who partied with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and called him a “terrific guy” before claiming he wasn’t a “fan” of him.
Lydic turned her attention to the meeting, remarking that Trump could’ve used the meeting for a “proposal” to unite both nations.
“Come on, Donald. Use that Trump charm to put a ring on it,” she said.
In a clip from the meeting, Trump referred to his 51st state fantasy as having the potential to be a “wonderful marriage” between the countries, adding that they’re two places that “like each other a lot.”
“Aw,” Lydic replied. “It’s like watching an episode of ‘Love on the Spectrum,’ if the spectrum was fascism.”
Carney shut down Trump’s annexation talk at the meeting, stressing that Canada is “not for sale” and “won’t be for sale, ever.”
Lydic joked that Trump just got “friend-zoned,” noting that he got a “clear rejection” from Canada before playing a clip of the president’s response to Carney’s comments.
“Time ― time will tell. It’s only time. But I say, never say never,” said Trump, who declared that the two countries still “love” each other.
Lydic hit back at the president, “Canada is not going to fuck you!”
