Neon has landed rights to Chloe Domont‘s upcoming film “A Place in Hell,” a workplace thriller starring Michelle Williams, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Andrew Scott.

The film, which recently wrapped production in New Jersey, will debut in theaters on an undetermined date with Neon handling the U.S. distribution and Republic Pictures on board for international territories.

Written and directed by Domont, “A Place in Hell” follows two women at a high-profile criminal law firm. It’s the filmmaker’s second feature following 2023’s “Fair Play,” a workplace thriller about two romantically entangled colleagues at a ruthless hedge fund. Starring Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich, “Fair Play” premiered at Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews and sold to Netflix for an eye-popping $20 million. Domont began her career in television, writing and directing episodes of HBO’s “Ballers,” Showtime’s drama “Billions” and the USA Network’s “Suits.”

“A Place in Hell” will be co-financed by Neon, MRC and Republic Pictures. Rian Johnson’s company T-Street, which worked on “Fair Play,” is producing the film. The deal was negotiated by Alison Cohen, Emily Thomas, Jeff Deutchman for Neon and Peter McPartlin for Republic Pictures.

Neon recently took home the best picture Oscar for Sean Baker’s comedic romantic drama “Anora” and acquired its sixth consecutive Cannes Palme d’Or winner with Jafar Panahi’s crime thriller “It Was Just an Accident.” Up next on the indie studio’s slate is Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” Julia Ducournau’s body-horror drama “Alpha,” Raoul Peck’s “Orwell: 2+2=5” and Michael Angelo Covino’s Dakota Johnson-led “Splitsville.”

Republic Pictures has recently backed “Twinless,” which recently won the audience award at Sundance, as well as “September 5” and the music doc “The Greatest Night in Pop.”
