Elijah Blue Allman’s estranged wife is speaking out after the 48-year-old’s alleged overdose.
Marieangela King Allman expressed her support for Cher’s son in a statement to People on Sunday, one day after he was rushed to a hospital in Joshua Tree, Calif.
She began by acknowledging that her former partner “has faced personal challenges in the past.”
The singer, however, wrote that Elijah’s “one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves.”
She noted, “Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles — but it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat.
“Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose,” Marieanglea continued.
She concluded, “I want to state, without hesitation, that I will always root for him. My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show.”
TMZ reported Elijah’s hospitalization over the weekend, claiming that Cher, 79, was “doing everything she can to get him the help he needs.”
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department told People that the musician had been “acting erratically” and was “being evaluated by emergency medical personnel” when they arrived at the scene.
“Deputies located drugs inside the home and Allman was transported to the hospital,” the authorities’ statement read. “The investigation is ongoing.”
Cher’s rep has yet to respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The Grammy winner welcomed Elijah in 1976 with Gregg Allman. She is also the mother of her and Sonny Bono’s 56-year-old son, Chaz.
Elijah married Marieangela in December 2013 — and while the guitarist filed for divorce in 2021, his petition was dismissed in February 2024.
Marieangela filed for divorce this April.
The following month, Elijah was photographed looking disheveled outside the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood, Calif.
Elijah has previously spoken about taking drugs, revealing in a 2014 interview that he started at age 11.
