Spotify has launched the video version of its social series “The Come Up: Center Stage,” featuring Sombr in its inaugural episode.

The series previously appeared on social media as slides that charted the rise of various artists via playlist placements and on-platform streams. In the first episode of the video series, Sombr maps his Spotify milestones by reflecting on key playlist placements and a billboard appearance in Times Square.

Sombr is in the thick of a career upswing, with “Undressed” and “Back to Friends” holding court in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. In “The Come Up: Center Stage,” he discusses everything from writing songs in his bedroom to his desire to release a new project and a dream collaboration with Billie Eilish. “If I’m being honest, it still hasn’t hit me,” he says of his success. “Tell me in three months. I can’t wrap my head around it.”

“From day one, The Come Up has always been about showing artists’ journeys and their biggest milestone moments on Spotify and beyond,” says Alexandra Pezzotti, Spotify’s associate director of social media. “Expanding from static social assets into video was a natural evolution of the series and allows us to go deeper, beyond what the graphic could show, and bring these moments to life in a way that really pops on social and lets artists share their story in a more engaging way directly to their fans.”

Spotify had previously featured artists including Lola Young, Teddy Swims and Khruangbin in its “Come Up” social series.
