The Cat in the Hat is returning for more chaos in Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s first animated adaptation of the beloved Dr. Seuss book, starring Bill Hader and Quinta Brunson.

The animated “Cat in the Hat” is directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, who have previously worked on projects such as “Kung Fu Panda 3,” “Trolls,” and “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2.” Additional cast members include Bowen Yang, Matt Berry, Xochitl Gomez, Tiago Martinez and Paula Pell. The Dr. Seuss character previously came to life in live-action in a 2003 movie starring Mike Myers.

The new “Cat in the Hat” movie will follow the iconic feline who “brings chaos and mischief to a pair of siblings struggling with their move to a new town.” The first trailer follows the Cat in the Hat as he works for a corporation called the Institute of Imagination, alongside other animals, such as Pig With a Wig and Yack With a Pack to provide joy to children around the world. Cat, who finds himself traveling around the world to uplift sad children, finds himself coming face to face with his hardest challenge yet, which has yet to be revealed.

“[The Cat in the Hat] the quintessential ‘carpe diem’ guy and the keeper of the theme of our movie, which is about living in the present. All he cares about is having a good time,” said Carloni during the film’s first preview at the Annecy Film Festival.

“The Cat in the Hat” will be released in theaters on Feb. 26, 2026.
