We might not have our “Song of the Summer” crowned just yet, but at the very least, you’ll find some strong contenders in the handful of new albums from artists that have defined 2025 so far: Lady Gaga, Bon Iver, Bad Bunny, FKA Twigs and Elton John and Brandi Carlile released some of the most anticipated — and were easily worth the wait.

It was the left turns and reinventions that dominated the online zeitgeist. Canadian pop singer Tate McRae and Addison Rae proved they’re no industry flukes and doubled down on addictive and nostalgia-infused dance pop. Meanwhile, tastemakers like PinkPantheress and Kali Uchis continued on trendsetting, while newcomers from Spanish avant-pop producer Rusowsky to South African singer Moonchild Sanelly began paving a path towards the distant future.
