Andy Serkis has assembled an all-star voice cast for his animated adaptation of George Orwell’s classic novel “Animal Farm.” It includes Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Laverne Cox, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner and Iman Vellani. In addition to directing “Animal Farm,” Serkis will also lend his vocal talents.
Nick Stoller, whose screenwriting credits include “The Muppets” and “Storks,” adapts the story of a group of animals who rebel against their human owners and take over the farm. Their uprising over, they are presented with a fresh set of challenges under the rule of a cunning pig named Napoleon (Rogen). It’s a situation that forces them to find the courage to stand up to Napoleon.
Aniventure and Imaginarium are producing with Adam Nagle, David Rosenbaum, Jonathan Cavendish, and Serkis. Harrelson also serves as executive producer alongside Matt Reeves, who worked with Serkis on “The Batman” and “Planet of the Apes.” Animation was provided by Cinesite and produced by Connie Nartonis Thompson (“Frankenweenie”).
Rogen is currently starring in the Apple TV+ series “The Studio.” His credits include “Superbad” and “Pineapple Express,’ as well as such animated films as “Kung Fu Panda,” “Sausage Party,” and the 2019 version of “The Lion King.”
Matarazzo is best known for his work on Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” He has also lent his voice to “My Father’s Dragon” and “The Angry Birds Movie 2,” and has appeared on Broadway in “Dear Evan Hansen” and “Les Misérables.”
Buscemi is known for “Fargo,” “Reservoir Dogs,” “The Big Lebowski,” and “Boardwalk Empire.” He has voiced characters in “Monsters, Inc.,” “Charlotte’s Web,” and “The Boss Baby” franchise.
Close has earned eight Academy Award nominations for the likes of “Fatal Attraction,” “Dangerous Liaisons,” and “The Big Chill.” She has also won three Tony Awards for her stage work.
Cox starred in Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” and has since appeared in “Promising Young Woman,” “Inventing Anna,” and “Disclosure.”
Culkin recently won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Jesse Eisenberg’s “A Real Pain” He also won an Emmy for his work on “Succession.”
Harrelson is a three-time Oscar nominee whose credits include HBO’s “True Detective,” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing” and “The People vs. Larry Flynt.”
Parsons is a four-time Emmy Award winner best known for his work on “The Big Bang Theory.” He has also starred in and produced “Spoiler Alert” and “A Kid Like Jake.”
Turner is an Academy Award–nominated actress, whose credits include “Body Heat,” “Romancing the Stone,” and “Serial Mom.”
Vellani had a breakout role in Disney+’s “Ms. Marvel” and starred in “The Marvels.”
