The View‘s Alyssa Farah Griffin called Donald Trump out for not allowing immigrants the same due process that he benefitted from during his own trial in 2024.
The ladies of The View were looking back on Trump’s first 100 days back in office, which were marked by a new interview with ABC News in which he railed against immigrants and doubled down on the recent deportations. After watching the interview, Griffin suggested Trump has a low approval rating because of his immigration policies.
“When it got into this issue for immigration, Donald Trump won on it in 2016 and in 2024 and for the first time he’s underwater. He’s only got 45% on it and its because he’s focusing on deporting people without due process under law,” she explained. “What makes America the greatest nation on Earth is you get that due process.”
She continued, referencing his hush money court case for which he was convicted in 2024, “Donald Trump of all people should be glad you’re innocent until proven guilty.”
The joke earned a laugh from her co-hosts and The View audience. Sunny Hostin, however, made sure to note, “Except he was found guilty. He was found guilty 34 times!”
Griffin then pointed out, “But he got due process.”
The former White House aide went on to claim that Trump has “effectively ended the border crisis in 100 days in office” and should be touting this as “a glowing success,” but his administration is more focused on “making these frankly horrible videos of people locked up and in chains being dragged and deported without due process.”
Whoopi Goldberg later went on to rail against ICE and the Trump administration for the recent deportations and urged the audience to vote towards their best interests.
“We are no longer the country of due process, we’re just not. We’re in some kind of twilight zone,” she said. “It’s gonna be up to us. There’s politicians and then there’s us and you have every right to vote the people who are not taking care of our democracy out of office.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
