The Young and the Restless is bidding farewell to one of its stars.

Allison Lanier, who has played Summer Newman in nearly 350 episodes of the famed CBS soap opera, took to X on Wednesday (April 30) to spread the word that her “last episode” on the will air on Friday (May 2).

“I’ve loved the journey and learned so much but it’s time to grow in a different direction… very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me <3,” she added.

DECIDER reached out to The Young & The Restless for further information.

Lanier, who inherited the role from Hunter King in 2022, celebrated 50 years of The Young & The Restless on Instagram in April 2023.

“Fifty years (50!!!) of The Young and the Restless, ONE year exactly since I filmed my first episode, countless flights back and forth to NYC, 5 short term sublets, 130+ episodes shot, many tears (scripted and otherwise), many lessons, a lot of laughter, new friendships, learning, and one immeasurable love,” she wrote at the time. “I feel incredibly lucky. Xo.”

She was also nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her portrayal of Summer Newman in 2024. The award ultimately went to her co-star, Courtney Hope, per Variety.

The Young & The Restless, which debuted on the network in 1973, kicked off its 52nd season last fall. The series was renewed through Season 55 last year, taking the show through the 2027-2028 TV slate.

The Young & The Restless airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Streaming is available on Paramount+.
