Bunim/Murray Productions is developing a new survival competition series titled “Predator vs. Prey,” which will be hosted by “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson.
“Predator vs. Prey” will follow a cast of 15 stars who have previously appeared on survival series such as “Alone,” “Outlast,” “Naked & Afraid” and “Survivor” as they compete in a 21-day game of hide and seek set on a 25-square mile rugged wilderness course. The group will be divided into two groups, with Predators able to bank up to $500,000 for capturing Prey, who earn cash prizes for staying in the game. Each episode will feature a different challenge that changes the game and forces Prey out of hiding.
The project was developed by Gayani Wanigaratne, Bunim/Murray’s senior vice president of development, alongside Ritchson, who serves as game master and executive producer in addition to host.
Along with “Reacher,” Ritchson’s credits include “Smallville” and “Fast X,” while Bunim/Murray is a division of Banijay Americas best known for unscripted formats including “The Real World” and “The Challenge.” Ritchson is represented by WME, Shelter PR and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.
“This series will be the ultimate test of grit and strength, pitting top survival stars against each other in a relentless game of chase and survival through a challenging wilderness environment,” said Wanigaratne in a statement. “Partnering with Alan to co-develop this format, fueled by his passion for the survival space, brings an authentic edge and fresh creative perspective. His first question to us was, when does he get to parachute into the wilderness to greet the players!”
“Seeing the world’s best survivalists pitted against each other in a high-octane game of hide-and-seek, all while surviving days or weeks in the most frighteningly unpredictable scenarios Mother Nature has to offer … TV doesn’t get more exciting than this. I can’t wait to be in the wild with these contestants,” said Ritchson.
