“Foundation” is back for more sci-fi thrills with the first official teaser for Season 3, reuniting Jared Harris, Lee Pace and Lou Llobell.

“Foundation” Season 3 debuts Friday, July 11 on Apple TV+ followed by weekly episodes through Friday, September 12.

With new stars this season including Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur, Emmy-winner Cherry Jones and Brandon P. Bell, the story picks up 152 years after the events of Season 2. The official synopsis reads: “The Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled. As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as ‘The Mule.’”

The show is produced for Apple by Skydance Television. Executive producers include David S. Goyer, Bill Bost, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell, Robyn Asimov, David Kob, Christopher J. Byrne, Leigh Dana Jackson, Jane Espenson and Roxann Dawson.

CASTING

Kyla Pratt (“The Proud Family”), Punkie Johnson (“Saturday Night Live), Reagan Gomez (“The Parent ‘Hood”) and Tammy Townsend (“Average Joe”) are joining “The Chi” Season 7 as guest stars.

Pratt will play Angie, described as “Hannibal’s tough as nails wife,” while Johnson will play career restaurant manager Shawnita, Gomez will play “textbook lover girl gone bad” Candace and Townsend will play entrepreneur Nora. They join previously announced guest stars Phylicia Rashad, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Karrueche Tran in the coming-of-age story centered on the South Side of Chicago.

“The Chi” will premiere Friday, May 16 on Paramount+ with Showtime before its on-air debut Sunday, May 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Jenny Daly has been named president of A. Smith & Co. Productions, where she will work alongside chairman and CEO Arthur Smith on building out the company’s unscripted footprint.

In Daly’s new role, she will oversee development, production, sales and operations, bringing her experience as executive producer on the Emmy-nominated Netflix series “Ginny & Georgia.”

David Siegel, former Exceptional Minds CEO and Disney executive, has joined JLA as CEO.

Siegel comes to the nonprofit, previously known as the Westside Jewish Community Center, after five years at the helm of the nonprofit creative academy that serves neurodiverse young adults. On Siegel’s watch, Sherman Oaks-based Exceptional Minds grew enrollment and its operating budget, and the org raised its profile through partnerships with and support from media and tech giants such as Apple, Dell, Disney, Mattel, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Discovery.

The Hollywood Radio and Television Society is kicking off its upcoming programming with “Cultivating Creative Excellence: A Conversation with John Landgraf and Eric Schrier” on the Disney Burbank lot on Thursday, May 8.

Following the opening event, HRTS will host a mixer for the LGBTQ+ community on May 29, 2025 from 7-9 p.m. PT, a panel on “Storytelling and Whataboutism: The Power of Narrative in Shaping Public Perception” in early June, an event titled “Storytelling That Redefines Resilience” on July 23 and the annual HRTS Fellowship Summer Summit, which will gather 15 fellows for immersive educational experiences.

The Los Angeles Wine & Food Festival is returning this fall with independent media company Tastemade co-hosting the event.

With its new home at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, the festival will bring chefs, culinary stars and wine and spirit producers for the weekend. The festival originally debuted in March 2024 and is produced by a21, the team behind the New York City Wine & Food Festival.

SeriesFest has announced the winners of this year’s Independent Pilot Competition for Season 11, providing the selected pilots $25,000 to support post-production efforts. The winners were chosen from over 50 pilots.

“We can think of no better way to close out another successful edition of the festival than to celebrate and give back to the independent storytellers who continue to push the boundaries of the medium,” SeriesFest Co-Founders Randi Kleiner and Kaily Smith said in a joint statement. “SeriesFest has a long history of being a discovery platform for the independent television community, and we are thrilled to be able to further this year’s creatives’ work through the opportunities these awards and resources provide.”
