Maybe the grass is greener ― or at least more trimmed ― on the other side.
In a clip she shared on Instagram recently, Ellen DeGeneres rides a lawn mower on the British countryside, where she has recently moved. (Watch the video below.)
The former talk show host, who ended her daytime TV reign in 2022 after accusations that she presided over a toxic environment, actually drives the mower at first. But the footage shot by her wife, Portia de Rossi, cuts to a man pushing DeGeneres and the vehicle up a hill. Then it transitions to DeGeneres and the man pushing together. De Rossi can be heard giggling at the end.
You can take the comedian out of the country, but you can’t the comedy out of the comedian. Or something like that.
“Portia thought it would be fun to film my first time on the mower,” DeGeneres wrote in her Instagram on Sunday. “She was right.”
DeGeneres also appears to have left behind her blond hair, sporting a brunette look in her epoch as landed gentry in England.
DeGeneres has reportedly bought and sold more than 50 properties.
“I don’t really travel a lot. So, house flipping is my version of travel,” she once told Riv, per People. “With house flipping, the scenery changes though I stay in the same general area. Only in a new place and from a new perspective.”
We’re not sure if her new perspective from the seat of a mower is doing anything for her, but it gave us a chuckle.
DeGeneres and de Rossi bought a farmhouse in the Cotswolds region, about a two-hour drive outside of London, People reported in November. Sources told some media outlets that the relocation was directly related to President Donald Trump’s victory. But People reported that DeGeneres was house-hunting there in October before the election.
Several celebrities have purchased homes in the Cotswolds, including the Beckhams and Hugh Grant.
Perhaps DeGeneres could pick up some mowing tips from them.
